when all the astrophysicists talk about the age of the universe has been estmimated 13.5 billion years.
way?
now, would you take in the same time effect of light traveling at light speed 13.5 billion years to get to us. i have not heard any one talking about that 13.5 billion years of expansion beyond that 13.5 billion year old photon that has just reached us. if you look at it logically, wouldn't you say the universe would be 27 billion years old. or is there some mathatical formula that would let the 13.5 billion "year old" photon to instantly reach us from that distance? no, i didn't think so. now you get into universal expansion.
universal expansion, in my eyes, will keep expanding as long as the membrane keep its integerity, the universe will keep expanding. but when the brane bursts it will be like the balloon bursting rushing out the contence of the universe out into the bulk. how fast? who's to say. all the coba sattlite photos show an uneven universe. the cold spots could be the bulk. it could be happining now. and it will reach us in 27 billion years, or 13.5 billion years. unless the bursting expansion travles faster than the speed of light.
the vastness of just what we can see is overwhelming. most of you folk feel the universe stops with us, you need to open your mind and think instead of the question not "where are we in the universe," but "when in the universe we are?"
as for the alignment of the "" galatic plane "" it is just a cosmic perspective. the way most of the charts show of the solar systems location is above or below the galatic plane, remember a matter of perspective. and what are we going to see. is nothing. the sun will be rising toward the center of the galaxy. the sun will actually eclipses' the center of the galaxy from the earth. if there were any thing to happen the sun would probably protect our planet somewhat, from the ------ let me see now ---- ah -- yea, that's right, it will protect us from the view of the galatic center. oh my goodness, run!!!!
now if we were to go through the center plane of the galatic arm then that's when all the s--- will happen! galactic dust! ort cloud! more! and this is when you would want to run. but guess what? you can't. ready for the next big extinction, "if" we the human race is still around.
but like you said we oscillates up and down through the galatic plane as we rotate around the milky way. charts and information reads something like 60,000 years from peak to trough. we are in those ares, "perspective remember", not in the galatic plane. i don't think we have anything to worry about.

your program is fantastic. i just wish there were more pamela's around in the world to talk to.

respectfully,
james turner

A great show! I have listened every day since I discovered this podcast about 9 months ago. I've listened through all the previous shows about 6 months ago as I drove a truck for a parts delivery service. Keep up the good work!

Dear Frasier and Pamela,

A great show that I enjoy listing to here in Spain where I live.

A question for Pamela, taking into account all known data what is the percentage likelyhood of there being other life in the universe? I also very mush enjoyed the thoughts raised in your panspermis show.
