If you want to be even more blown away by black hole surfaces, listen to one of the Silicon Valley Astronomy Lecture Podcasts: "Black Hole Wars: My Battle with Stephen Hawking". 11/7/08. Really scary, really cool. Silicon Valley is listed in iTunes Store, same section as Astronomy Cast.

I'd love to see this and similar topics discussed more at The Black Hole general-interest discussion forum; people get a bit confused by our name sometimes, but we're focused on much more than just space/astronomy interests. In fact, we're wide open....and as a result, I think people don't end up tackling these topics nearly often enough!

I considered making space & all things cosmic more of a specific focus for TBH, but the membership has been very passionate about keeping things wide-open to all topics....and with good reason. When covering breaking events like the recent Mumbai Terror Attacks, we have been able to do things that nobody whose focused was restricted would be able to duplicate.

So, if you're interested in black holes, or anything else relating to the larger cosmos out there....please consider joining us at TBH! We could use more people like yourselves, and will most definitely be adding some links for this great site to our Internet section :-)

Keep up the good work, AstronomyCast -- from everything at The Black Hole and Xerces Media/Xerces Partners International :-)

Empyre-
That was obviously the wrong link! I've put in a better one and added a link to the Gravity Probe B site that has an interactive bowling-ball-rubber-sheet model.

Thanks,
Nancy

After watch I think a Nova show and heard that dark energy is 73%, dark matter 23% and 4%the rest known matter...why am I the only one to notice that the Sun is 73% Hydrogen 23% helium 4% metals....happy oddity?

Also would all orbit energy of all orbiting mass add up in some math way to the 220,000 m/s the sun orbits the milky way thus showing a way to know when all orbiting mass is known or % known....so it dont collide with earth...
