Edwin Hubble
You might know the name “Hubble” because of the Hubble Space Telescope. But this phenomenal observatory was named after one of the most influential astronomers in modern history. Hubble discovered that galaxies are speeding away from us in all directions, leading to our current understanding of an expanding Universe. Let’s learn about the man behind the telescope.

Actually when I think of an archetypical astronomer I think of Sir Patrick Moore
Didn’t know he was such an athlete, nor did I realize he lobbied to get Astronomers recognized for the Nobel prize. Very informative cast. Keep doing these profile/biography style shows in the future please.
Really enjoyed this podcast. I always found Hubble to be such a fascinating man.
Continue with this theme of the lives of famous astronomers – and please include Carl Sagan.
Sir Patrick Moore would be a good topic for a podcast!
I agree, an episode on Carl Sagan would be awesome.
You guys were my favorite of everything on the net, Now you are getting really lame. Might I say you disappoint me. Or to put it more simply , “you suck.”
Another vote for an episode on Sagan!
To William Royal:
Well, one could say you suck as well for not giving a reason for why you feel that way. You can tell someone they’re doing a terrible job at something and not give them any feedback!
I really liked this show, I knew pretty much nothing about Hubble and I wouldn’t mind to see similar episodes on other astronomers. Keep up the good work!
Nice podcast – I love to learn about the person behind the famous name. Hubble was obviously one of those multi-talented individuals who span the board with their abilities – if he was alive today he would certainly receive the Nobel Prize.
I agree with Sticks, Patrick Moore is the typical astronomer – intelligent, knowledgeable, far-sighted, enthusiastic and slightly bonkers. And I love him for it.
